Scientific Surveys

Since our first nutritional survey of the 1800 children at Ikaya Primary School in 2005, we have conducted surveys every 6 months. These have showed a continued improvement in the BMI statistics and the health of the children – proving the positive effect of the work we are doing.

Informing People

The SCDP has introduced the two primary schools in Kayamandi to the principles of good nutrition, and the relationship between healthy minds and healthy bodies:

• Management commitee: We regularly exchange ideas on how best to benefit the children.
• Teachers: Meetings are held to inform the teachers of the results of our feeding and screening. We hope to enlist the help of the teachers further.
• Vendors: We also provide informational training to vendors to encourage them to sell healthy foods.
